This historical monument was built in the 15th century in the old Council building in Brasov. The old Council house is permanently improving so there are constantly added other new rooms. In 1689 due to the Habsburg military invasion the nowadays museum building was destroyed and in 1780 the building reconstruction was finished. Today you can visit the well conserved and valued the archaeological and history collections of Saxon museum in Barsa Land and the collections of Astra Association museum. The middle Palaeolithic objects, pottery and tolls from Iron Age but also the findings from the roman groups settled once in Rasnov and Olt Valley, weapons, tolls, furniture or products from the tradesmen guild. The exhibit is organized on three levels: archaeology (basement), medieval history (ground floor) and modern history (first floor).
