There was a period inside the Brasov fortress when the Orthodox believers were not allowed to build churches therefore the present church is inside a yard on Horse Fair Street. More precisely after various interventions in 1786 the administration approved the construction of a church inside some Saxon houses, and therefore the church has no rising tower, belfry or bell board. For a year the services were held in Romanian and also in Greek and by 1789 the Greeks claimed their rights upon the church. Only after 100 years and the Greek leaving in 1942 the Holy Trinity Church previously The Greek Church returns to the Orthodox Romanian believers. Inside the building are amazing wall paintings, linen and wood painted icons since the 17th-18th century and also the iconostasis since 1855 which surely will amaze you. You should not miss the Venetian icon since 1633 and the Greek Gospel polished by the jewel maker of Constatin Brancoveanu in gold-silver. In the backyard cemetery are buried noble Brancoveanu family members, Greek community members and the Hungarian-Wallachia bishop Dosoftei. Although the church esthetics is being covered by the nearby buildings today all the Christian orthodox believers can take part at the services held inside the Holy Trinity church.
