To escalate Piatra Mare Mountains you have as a starting point the Dambu ??Morii chalet, route marked by yellow tape. After an hour of walking and leaving behind the chalet you reach a crossroads that allows you to choose two paths to follow to Piatra Mare Mountains. One, whose yellow stripe leads to 7 Stairs Canyon and the road on the left, marked by the blue triangle guiding you to the Bear Abyss. If you choose to go to Bear Abyss, the alternative path chosen not to observe the canyon, and once arrived at 1200 rate you exit in the first road that will lead to Piatra Mare chalet (1629 m). The chalet with its small enough sizes, administered by a Hungarian couple, waits you to come in and even have a soup. Overnight is possible if you book in advance a place at bunks or you can install the tent under high surveillance of the shepherd dogs. Nothing more genuine could be offered. From here you walk about another hour until you reach Piatra Mare Peak (1844 meters). Most likely you will not be amazed by the peak (not too desirable because you could roll down to Cabana Piatra Mare and you must retake the one hour road again towards the peak), but the magnificent landscape panorama revelling here will completely overwhelm you. You will feel like the whole Brasov expected you to get up to the top and greet you with so many hidden things, which initially were not to see. You can also admire other mountains such as Bucegi, Piatra Craiului Mountains, Ciucas or Postavaru. Landscape elements receive their excess fullness from the beech and spruce forests, from different species of plants such as violets, primrose flower Easter bunny ferns and watercress. On the massif imposing peaks are edelweiss, chimes, gentians or dianthus. Fauna is also comfortably installed in Piatra Mare Mountains, therefore keep your camera always ready to capture some shaved, bear, deer, wild boar, wolf or fox. Birds are also up in the sky and if you have any luck you may admire the flight of capercaillie or hazel hen. As a suggestion you may want to follow, is to remember that the proper equipment for mountain adventures should be done regardless of the season. No matter how accessible and gentle the ridges may appear, nature is something you never play.
