This church dates back since 1495 when the ruler of Wallachia Vlad Calugaru founded the church. This spiritual and cultural place is of great importance for the Barsa Land especially because the first Romanian religious books were printed by the Coresi deacon inside of Sf Nicolae church in Brasov. Many would want to know the architectural shape of the church therefore we may say that the general look of the church is given by lots of towers and their sharp pointed roofs. The church has a three-cusped altar and is structured on a long rectangular shape but narrow nave tied with two chapels. From the above corner colons of the altar rise pendants sustaining a tambour with semi arched windows and ends with semi spherical chapel. In front of the central apse is the decorated iconostasis since the 1930’s of last century. On the north side of the church is the painted image of the Romanian Ruler Mihai Viteazu entering Brasov. There are also paintings with the four church founders and the crowing of the Romanian king Ferdinand I. In the church yard is also the first Romanian school which has functioned since the 14th century where you can see the first Romanian printing press. Under the church care were printed the first Romanian books with the help of deacon Coresi, was written the first Romanian Grammar, translated the first traditions books and built the first Romanian school. In the church’s cemetery were buried important personalities of that time like Nicolae Titulescu, Doctor Aurel Popovici, priest Vasile Saftu, doctor Ioan Mesota etc. Sf Nicolae church Brasov is an important cultural and spiritual place due to its contribution to maintain and value the Romanian culture and beliefs.
